You stop wherever you feel like it. No packed itinerary, no car to park. Just the Breton wind at your back and a full day ahead. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the Domaine de La Ville Huchet, the most beautiful cycling routes in the area are just a few pedal strokes away. It is partly for this reason that we earned the Cyclists Welcome label in 2026, a concrete recognition for cyclists who stay with us. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Saint-Malo, a cycling destination in its own right<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For a cycling trip in Saint-Malo<\/strong>, the terrain is ideal. The city is a major cycling hub on the Emerald Coast : the V\u00e9lomaritime (EuroVelo 4) passes through, the Ille-et-Rance canal greenway is nearby, and the V42 connects Saint-Malo to Rennes along 100 km of signposted routes. In total, more than 2,700 km of marked cycling routes criss-cross Brittany, with Saint-Malo as the perfect base to explore from. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n

The V\u00e9lomaritime, the flagship coastal route<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

La V\u00e9lomaritime<\/a><\/strong>, seule repr\u00e9sente 1 518 km de littoral entre Roscoff et Bray-Dunes, balis\u00e9e \u00e0 100% dont 37% en voie verte sans voiture. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Saint-Malo, it unfolds in 4 stages heading east : the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel, Cancale and the Pointe du Grouin, Saint-Suliac and the Rance valley. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Saint-Malo to Cancale section is 40 km, the one towards Mont-Saint-Michel around 60 km. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Halfway along, Saint-Suliac is one of the most beautiful villages in France, a perfect spot for a waterside lunch. From the Domaine de La Ville Huchet, the V\u00e9lomaritime is just 1.5 km away. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

A region made for family cycling<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

What we love about Saint-Malo is that the landscape never discourages you. The terrain is gentle, the cycling paths well maintained, and the scenery changes constantly : sea, estuary, canal, countryside. In a week’s stay, you can discover very different settings without ever cycling the same route twice. It is also a destination designed with families in mind. The routes we recommend below are suitable for children, compatible with a bike trailer or child seat, and require no particular fitness level. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

The Ille-et-Rance canal, the gentle ride<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For a day with no effort, the Ille-et-Rance canal greenway <\/a>is hard to beat. An old towpath entirely reserved for cyclists and pedestrians, it is perfectly flat, shaded and free of cars. Ideal with young children. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You pedal along the water, passing flowering locks, moored barges and perfect picnic spots. From Saint-Malo, you can ride all the way to Dinan <\/a>along the Rance, one of the most beautiful arrivals imaginable, beneath medieval ramparts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Cit\u00e9 d’Aleth can be reached from the campsite in 12 minutes by car or around 20 minutes by bike. The ride is not particularly difficult and is ideal for families. On the way back down, take a break at the Bas-Sablons harbor and enjoy the quayside caf\u00e9s and restaurants. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Saint-Malo to Cancale ride<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A regional classic : follow the V\u00e9lomaritime to Cancale, stop for oysters at the market, and return via the high road. A perfectly satisfying day out. We cover it in detail in our dedicated article. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The family ride around Saint-Malo<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
