Explore the Vélomaritime from Saint Malo
The section of the Vélomaritime in Saint-Malo is spectacular: (and it’s not just us saying it!)
Here at the Domaine de la Ville Huchet campsite, we’re lucky enough to be less than 2 km from one of France’s most beautiful cycling circuits: the Vélomaritime, also known as EuroVelo 4. This bike ride skirts the Emerald Coast and lets you pedal between cliffs, small ports, beaches, ramparts… and of course, a few crêperies along the way (we’ve got our priorities 😄).
Why is it so popular? Because in less than 20 kilometers, you’ll pass through some iconic places:
- the listed village of Saint-Suliac, nestled in the Rance valley,
- the ramparts of Saint-Malo, with their breathtaking sea views,
- the Emerald Coast, between the beaches of the Sillon, rocky points and discreet coves,
- and, of course, Cancale, with its oyster beds and view of Mont-Saint-Michel Bay.
All this on a marked, flat and accessible itinerary, perfect for a family outing or a cool day out, with a pancake or picnic break on the agenda. Frankly, it’s hard to get much more complete… or more Breton!
What is Vélomaritime?
A cycling route between Brittany and the North Sea
If you often hear about the Vélomaritime, it’s not by chance. It’s part of one of Europe’s great cycling itineraries: EuroVelo 4, which links Roscoff to Dunkirk, covering almost 1,500 km of coastline to discover by bike.
On the program: the Pink Granite Coast, the Bay of Saint-Brieuc, the D-Day landing beaches, the cliffs of Étretat, the Bay of the Somme, the Opal Coast… A string of coastal landscapes and historic sites to explore at your own pace.
A course for every calf
The route is 100% signposted, safe and designed to be accessible to all: families, Sunday cyclists or long-distance enthusiasts. It mixes greenways, low-traffic roads, coastal stretches and quiet valleys.
And to help you rest or recharge your batteries (your bike or your legs), the itinerary is dotted with practical services: “Accueil Vélo” accommodation (like ours), rest areas, VAE recharging stations, rental companies and local advice.
Why is Saint-Malo one of the most beautiful?
Saint-Malo is the emotional heart of Vélomaritime. Between mythical ramparts, listed villages, secret beaches and freshly-opened oysters, you can move from one atmosphere to another without ever leaving the saddle.

Planning your day? We’ll slip you a map at the reception desk, help you check your tires, and advise you on your route depending on the weather. No bike? Don’t worry: we work with Vélo Emeraude to offer you classic bikes, electric bikes, children’s bikes and accessories.
And in the evening, while the kids are off to the playground, you can :
- take a dip in the heated pool,
- relax in the sauna (free access!),
- share a galette at the campsite crêperie,
- and recharge your VAE, while you recharge… your legs!
Frequently asked questions
Is the Vélomaritime difficult around Saint-Malo?
Not at all. The stretches around Saint-Malo are flat, safe and accessible, perfect for beginners or families.
Is it possible to do only part of the route?
Of course you can! Vélomaritime is modular: do a day trip, a loop, a weekend or more. Saint-Malo is an excellent gateway.
